HireGuam System Training Increases Assistance To Laid-Off Workers

The Guam Department of Labor, in partnership with Guam Community College, the Guam Department of Integrated Services for Individuals with Disabilities, and the Department of Public Health and Social Services, recently hosted a four-day training session on how to use HireGuam Virtual OneStop — the island's online case management system. The training, which involved workforce agency case workers and supervisors from Guam, the Northern Marianas, and Palau, was made possible by a nearly $2.2 million Reemployment & System Integration Dislocated Worker Grant. The grant enables the Guam Department of Labor to assist and provide services to individuals who have experienced job loss stemming from layoffs.

“In partnering with GCC and other line agencies, as well as our sister islands, our goal at the Department of Labor is to improve the capacity of the workforce system to efficiently link dislocated workers with career services,” said David Dell’Isola, the agency’s director. “Hard-working people lost their jobs due to circumstances beyond their control. In Guam this integrated system hireguam.com will help them receive the career counseling they need at the American Job Center which will then guide them into a new career.”
